Who is this for?
This is an introductory level course to develop essential skills for career success in a manufacturing career. A college degree is not required to take this course.
Course Overview
This entry-level 4-week course provides practical strategies for achieving career success in the manufacturing industry. Learners will gain a deep understanding of workplace culture, rules, and expected behaviors, enhancing their professionalism. The course will also focus on developing effective communication skills by identifying key components of successful communication and organizing ideas clearly. Additionally, participants will learn to manage conflicts effectively by recognizing and applying appropriate conflict styles. Career development is a key component, with modules dedicated to creating a professional resume, practicing interview techniques, and leveraging LinkedIn for job searches. By the end of the course, you’ll have developed a personal career success plan, positioning you for success in your manufacturing career.
What to Expect
In this course, you will build knowledge and self-awareness, reflecting on your learnings to apply them to your individual situation. Each week, you will engage with course readings and videos that explain key career success concepts. You will also hear from industry professionals about how these concepts manifest in their organizations. Discussion posts will offer opportunities to reflect on various elements of career success in manufacturing and begin applying these concepts to your own context. At the end of each module, you will receive a summary highlighting the importance of these concepts for your understanding and career.
Time Commitment
Learners should anticipate dedicating roughly 15 hours over a 4-week period for this course. Each week, participants will engage in readings, watch instructional videos, complete assignments, and interact live with our faculty experts, averaging about 3-5 hours per week. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to watch recorded sessions with our experts, ensuring optimal convenience for all learners.
