Role of Automation in Modern Manufacturing
Who is this for?
This is an introductory level course for those interested in starting or continuing a career in manufacturing. A college degree is not required to take this course.
Course Overview
This 4-week entry-level course introduces learners to the vital role automation plays in modern manufacturing processes. You will explore how various automation systems, such as sensors, robots, and controllers, work together to improve production efficiency, accuracy, and safety. By examining real-world manufacturing systems, you’ll gain insights into how automation is used on the shop floor and its impact on workforce roles and productivity.
What to Expect
Throughout this course, you’ll engage with video content, interactive exercises, and discussions to explore automation in manufacturing. Each week covers key concepts such as the components of automation systems, how decisions are made by machines, and the role of automation at the system level.
Time Commitment
Learners should anticipate dedicating roughly 15 hours over a 4-week period for this course. Each week, participants will engage in readings, watch instructional videos, complete assignments, and interact live with our faculty experts, averaging about 3-5 hours per week. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to watch recorded sessions with our experts, ensuring optimal convenience for all learners.
