Who is this for?
This is an introductory level course for those who are or want to expand their professionalism skills and competencies. A college degree is not required to take this course. This iteration of the course is tailored to those in the manufacturing setting.
Course Overview
This entry-level 4-week course provides an accessible and engaging introduction to professionalism in the modern workplace, with a focus on the manufacturing industry. Learners will explore key aspects of professionalism, recognize organizational culture and norms, and explore interpersonal behaviors effective for manufacturing settings. The course will guide you in developing essential career skills, such as creating a professional resume, preparing for interviews, and utilizing LinkedIn for networking and job searching. Additionally, you’ll gain an understanding of ethics in the workplace, learning how to apply ethical decision-making processes and recognize the importance of values in a manufacturing setting. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently navigate professional environments.
What to Expect
In this course, you will build knowledge and self-awareness, reflecting on your learnings to apply them to your individual situation. Each week, you will engage with course readings and videos that explain professionalism in workplace settings. You will also hear from industry professionals about how these concepts manifest in their organizations. Discussion posts will offer opportunities to reflect on various elements of professionalism and begin applying these concepts to your own context. At the end of each module, you will receive a summary highlighting the importance of these concepts for your understanding and career.
Time Commitment
Learners should anticipate dedicating roughly 15 hours over a 4-week period for this course. Each week, participants will engage in readings, watch instructional videos, complete assignments, and interact live with our faculty experts, averaging about 3-5 hours per week. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to watch recorded sessions with our experts, ensuring optimal convenience for all learners.
