A Comprehensive Deck Design from Footings to Guards: Learning from the Past

Overview
In this residential deck course, go deeper in deck design as you learn about past deck failures and briefly review the potential root causes of the failures. Next, review the comprehensive provisions in chapter 5 of the 2018 International Residential Code (IRC) along with some additional guidelines to see how current codes and guidelines have evolved in response to previous failures.
After watching the videos, completing knowledge checks, and passing a final assessment, you will be eligible for the following continuing education credits:

- use residential deck guard rail testing results and additional guidelines to help in the design and construction of a safer system for the occupant
