Full course description

Maintenance & Safety in Robotics

Who is this for?

This is an introductory level course for those interested in or currently working in the manufacturing field who want to gain essential knowledge about maintenance and safety in robotics. A college degree is not required to take this course.

Learning Goals

  • Ensure reliable and safe robotic operations.
  • Categorize preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance, diagnose robotic issues, and create comprehensive safety plans for industrial robotics environments.

Course Overview

Maintenance & Safety in Robotics equips learners with the knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot robotic systems in industrial environments. Students will categorize maintenance types (preventative, predictive, corrective), identify common maintenance procedures, and follow the steps for diagnosing robotic problems. Additionally, the course emphasizes safety, guiding students to develop a comprehensive safety plan for robotic work environments, ensuring proper protocols and risk management. This course prepares learners to maintain optimal robotic performance while ensuring a safe workplace.

This course is approved for 1.5 CEUs or 15 PEs. Check with your employer on reimbursement.

What to Expect

Each week will focus on a different aspect of maintenance and safety in robotics. Weekly modules include interactive exercises, videos that showcase robotics in action, and assignments to help learners apply their knowledge. Live sessions will offer opportunities for deeper engagement and discussion.

To earn the course’s digital badge, learners must successfully complete all coursework at the required level and demonstrate competency in the learning outcomes.

While live synchronous sessions are highly recommended for real-time interaction and learning, recordings will be made available for those who are unable to attend due to other responsibilities.

Time Commitment

Learners should anticipate dedicating roughly 15 hours over a 4-week period for this course. Each week, participants will engage in readings, watch instructional videos, complete assignments, and interact live with our faculty experts, averaging about 3-5 hours per week. Additionally, we offer the flexibility to watch recorded sessions with our experts, ensuring optimal convenience for all learners.

Course opens on Friday for learners to orient themselves but officially kicks off on Monday.
